
Powerpeers is a platform for peer-to-peer energy sharing. Users with solar panels can sell their surplus energy to others in their local network, at a fair price, rather than feeding it back to the grid at a lower rate. For the first time, neighbours can directly trade the energy they produce.
The app is the primary interface through which users understand their energy production, consumption, and peer-to-peer transactions. Real-time data from energy meters feeds directly into the app, making the flow of energy between neighbours visible and actionable.
The app displays live data from the user's smart meter: how much energy they are producing, how much they are consuming, how much they are sharing with neighbours, and what they are earning or saving. The data updates continuously, giving users an immediate sense of how their solar panels are performing and where their energy is going.
Every energy transaction between network members is visible in the app: who you shared with, how much, and what it was worth. This transparency is central to the Powerpeers proposition, making the peer-to-peer model tangible rather than abstract.
Displaying continuously updating energy data requires a responsive, smooth interface. Native development on both platforms ensured the app feels immediate and fluid even as the underlying data changes every few seconds.

The Powerpeers app integrates with smart meter infrastructure that varies by provider and region. Elements worked with Powerpeers to map the data formats and update frequencies from different meter types, building an integration layer that normalises the data before it reaches the app, regardless of which meter the user has.
As the peer-to-peer energy market grows and more households install solar panels, Powerpeers can extend the platform to larger local networks, community energy cooperatives, and integration with battery storage. The app architecture supports adding new energy sources and transaction types without a full rebuild.
